What is Made in Britain?

Made in Britain brings together the British manufacturing community, united with the use of the registered collective marks. The marks are protected and can only be used by members. Made in Britain began as a commercial marketing campaign in 2011, it is now an internationally-recognised organisation that provides a registered trademark which promotes and acknowledges the very best of British manufacturing. With close to 2000 members today, It makes it easier for buyers and consumers at home to identify British-made products. They work with many departments to support skilled jobs, responsible business, and sustainable growth.

Why is Made in Britain important to us?

US President Joe Biden has appointed a director for “Made in America”. He understands the importance of self sufficiency and the value of quality home produced goods and services.  Footstools Direct recently became a member of Made in Britain because we want to shout about values that are really important to us.

We are a proud British business based in Yorkshire. Most of our suppliers are also locally based; our faux leathers are manufactured across the Pennines in Lancashire and sourced from Leeds based Peter Cook International. Fabrics are supplied by Ross Fabrics, another key local supplier and our wool tartans come from Gloucester based Warwick Fabrics.

We are delighted to have been accorded the ‘Made in Britain’ badge. This shows that our products are accredited British sourced and manufactured. Our structures and frames are produced from timber and MDF supplied by Arnold Laver, Jewson and Tradepoint, all within a 3 mile radius of our Stourton manufacturing facility. Foam and leathers arrive from Beeston and Guildersome respectively, adding to our “eco” credentials and reducing unnecessary fuel mileage.

We take great pride in the creation of our products meaning all the materials are the best quality and are long lasting, we carefully create every footstool at our factory in Stourton, Leeds ensuring they are of supreme quality and made to be perfect for everyone!

We ordered and paid for 2 footstools of idential design, and was told to expect delivery in a week or less. One has arrived, but more than 2 weeks later there is no news of the second, despite my chasing. What is happening?
